My Story

Hi! I’m Jake Sumberg, a CIA-trained private chef passionate about food, people, and creating unforgettable moments around the table.

My culinary path began in the kitchen of Buddakan NYC and took me through standout spots like The Whelk in Westport, CT and King Noodle in Brooklyn. I’ve cooked privately for families on the Upper East Side, built and led the kitchen at a fast-growing tech startup, hosted corporate team-building cooking classes, and most recently spent the last decade in the software world.

Along the way, I realized one of the biggest everyday challenges busy professionals and parents face is eating well at home—menu planning, grocery shopping, cooking, and cleaning can feel overwhelming after a long day. While meal-prepping for myself and my husband to stay healthy, coworkers constantly commented on how lucky we were to eat the way we do. That’s when something clicked.

Today, Chop Chop brings that same care and creativity into the homes of busy New Yorkers. No stress, no cleanup—just exceptional, chef-crafted meals made right in your kitchen.
